Pulley

A pulley is a simple machine that consists of a wheel with a groove around its circumference, along which a rope or cable can run. The rope or cable can be used to transmit force, either to lift or move an object, or to transmit power between two points. The pulley can be fixed or movable, with a fixed pulley being attached to a structure and a movable pulley being attached to the object being moved. In a fixed pulley, the direction of the force applied to the rope is redirected, allowing for the application of a force in a different direction. This type of pulley does not increase the amount of force applied to the load, but it can make it easier to lift an object by changing the direction of the force. In a movable pulley, the pulley is attached to the object being moved, and the force applied to the rope is used to lift the load. This type of pulley increases the mechanical advantage, or the amount of force that can be applied to the load, making it easier to lift heavier objects. Pulleys are commonly used in a variety of applications, from construction and transportation to simple machines used in homes and classrooms.
